Dr. Renuka Thakore, PhD, MSc, BSc (Hons), PIEMA, AFHEA

Dr. Renuka Thakore is a global leader and advocate for sustainable development, renowned for her multidisciplinary approach to addressing global challenges through innovation, research, and partnerships. She is the Founder of Global Sustainable Futures: Progress through Partnerships (GSFN). This worldwide network fosters global collaboration to tackle pressing sustainability issues, focusing on creating climate-resilient futures and leaving no one behind. Under her leadership, GSFN has grown to include over 7,000 coordinators from 175 countries, empowering local communities and providing opportunities for researchers, early-career professionals, and policymakers to engage in meaningful dialogues and actions on climate change and sustainability.

Renuka’s work is driven by a passion for humanity and a deep commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Her leadership in high-level initiatives, including the GSFN Green Awards and the Global South Summits, aligns with the mission of the SDGs, fostering capacity building and collaboration across diverse sectors and regions. Her commitment to the SDGs is a powerful force that aligns us all in pursuing a sustainable future.

Dr. Thakore’s pioneering contributions to sustainability have earned her global recognition and numerous accolades. She was awarded the prestigious ’Development Leadership: Governor Enrique Tomás Cresto Award 2022’ from the Senate of Argentina and the esteemed ‘Global SDG’s Women Ambassador Award 2022’. In 2024, she will be honoured with the Humanitarian Award Global (HAG), further recognising her tireless efforts to create a better world through volunteer-driven initiatives. Her global recognition is a source of pride and inspiration for all those who share her commitment to sustainability.

With a PhD in Systems Thinking and a strong academic background, Renuka’s research focuses on energy efficiency, stakeholder engagement models, and sustainable innovation. Her ability to connect academic study with practical solutions has been instrumental in driving impactful projects in energy, waste management, sustainable infrastructure, and climate adaptation, especially in the Global South. She has been an active voice at COP28, SB60, and various UN forums, presenting the voices of vulnerable communities and advocating for inclusive, equitable solutions.
