James Balzer, MSUSDEV, MPP
Board Member and Educator
James Balzer is an Australian sustainable development practitioner, with diverse experience across government, social enterprise, think tanks and NGOs. He has a strong focus on achieving anticipatory and systems-oriented governance models for sustainable, long-term change across society. This particularly includes the use of futures & foresight methodologies.
He is leading an initiative of the World Economic Forum Global Foresight Network and is a Next Generation Foresight Practitioner (NGFP) Fellow – pursuing more resilient futures for extreme heat adaptation. Likewise, he leads the Cities & States Working Group for the School of International Futures (SOIF) Pledge Network – designing intergenerational governance evaluation frameworks for global cities.
James is currently a Senior Project Officer at the New South Wales Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, where he manages multi-million dollar grant programs for community solar energy programs. He has a Master of Sustainable Development and a Master of Public Policy.
